WinterStomp Farms and Food Poetry Contest

Skagit Valley Food Co-op and Skagit River Poetry Festival present:

WinterStomp Farms and Food Poetry Contest

Congrats to our Winterstomp Winners, who will share their poems with the audience during the Winterstomp set breaks on Saturday February 4th.

ForWinter Migration:  Roger Ridgway, Kathleen Bisagna, and Victoria Sprang

For Farms at Rest: Sarah Phillips, Maggie Elliott, and Ann Basye

Thanks to all of you who submitted some pretty incredible poems for this contest – Skagit is thick with good writers, it turns out. (This is not a surprise, but we’ve definitely confirmed our suspicions)

We’ll try to get a wee book together with this year’s winning poems, plus some others that we didn’t have time to include onstage during Winterstomp.

Winners will receive a gift card to the Co-op and the opportunity to read their poem on stage at the Lincoln Theatre during WINTERSTOMP festival on February 4th, 2011.

Anyone residing in northwestern Washington is eligible enter poems.

Submissions should be original, unpublished work in one of two categories:

  • Winter/Migration
  • Farms at Rest

Deadline for Submissions: January 17, 2011

Submit poems c/o Jodie Buller at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op

202 S First Street Mount Vernon WA 98273 or via email cooproom(at) gmail(dot)com

Please submit no more than one poem for each category.

Poems should be single-spaced, single-sided pages, no more than three pages long.

The author retains copyright on the poems, although WINTERSTOMP reserves the rights to: publish the poems online and in a potential anthology, and to present a winning entry if the entrant is unable to read in person at the festival on February 4th.

Two winners for each category will be selected by a three person committee.

Winners will be notified January 24th, 2011.
